When it comes to moving to your new home, everyone can use some handy tricks to get by easier. Sure the basic bubble wrap and duct tape are your best bet for practically anything, but here are a few things they won't be able to help you pack.

Use these tricks and even your movers would be impressed by your packing skills.

Snack or Moving Hack?

If you're as big of a snack lover as I am, you'd love this tip. Hard shelled snack packs like Pringles cases are the perfect tools for packing all those pencils and pens you have laid around your home. These handy cans can hold a number of loose items that would otherwise end up rolling all over of the floor of your moving truck.

Now let's say you're packing delicate items in a box, and you run out of packing peanuts or bubble wraps, you can rely on your old friend the popcorn. It's dirt cheap and a great substitute for protecting your fragile china. Even better it's edible, which would mean you're snacking and packing.

Rubber Bands

Notice how we keep using rubber bands less and less. Well, not to worry you're in luck we've found a use for them. When carrying stuff down to the truck you have to pull that door handle down to open the door. A simple rubber band hook one end over the inside knob, turn the knob, so it’s in the “open” position. Then you twist the band in an “X” over the latch and hook the other end to the outside knob.

Rubber bands are also super handy for keeping shoe boxes and other small boxes intact and sealed. Moreover use them to bind your clothes hangers together.

Foam Plates

You're packing your kitchen, and you're trying to be extra careful to not break anything. Normally, we struggle with crumbled newspaper, creating a big mess and not really offering any real protection. Now sure, for the wealthier folks out there who could buy that foam square used for packing dishes this doesn't apply to. For the rest of you, we've got an even better solution for you, buy party packs of foam plates at your local dollar store or grocery store. They cost FAR less than the foam padding’s and work twice as better, and once you move into your new place you'll have plates for the first messy night or two before you unpack.
